Have you been caught sleeping at work? I can't remember if I had been, but what I do recall is that there were a lot of times when I feel sleepy at work. Actually, the truth is that the moment I hit my work table and see the papers I need to work on, I suddenly have this urge to sleep. It's different when I surf the Internet or read a good book because then I can go for hours and hours without needing any excuse to stop.
If, however, you find yourself unable to resist that sudden urge to sleep at work, you may give in to the temptation as long as no one is looking. There is just no point in continuing doing your work when you're sleepy, because aside from the fact that you lack the concentration needed to do the job, you will most likely commit mistakes on whatever you are working on, which might eventually be fatal to your job. It would thus be better to sleep for a couple of minutes in order to drive away that sleepiness and refresh your mind in the process. But in case your officemates or your boss (Yikes!) suddenly catches you in the middle of your unauthorized siesta, here are your ten best excuses to save you from unwanted consequences:
10. "They told me at the blood bank this might happen."
9. "This is just a 15 minute power nap like they raved about in that time management course you sent me to."
8. "Whew! Guess I left the top off the white out. You probably got here just in time."
7. "I wasn't sleeping, I was meditating on the mission statement and envisioning a new paradigm."
6. "I was testing my keyboard for drool resistance."
5. "I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work-related stress. Do you discriminate against people who practice Yoga?"
4. "Why did you interrupt me? I had almost figured out a solution to our biggest problem."
3. "The coffee machine is broken."
2. "Someone must have put decaf in the wrong pot."
1. " ... in God's name, Amen."

maganda yung #4 kaya lang depende rin kung meron nga bang problema..nakidaan din..salamat
Kapag nagka work ako uli at di na ko nakatayo all day, hehehe, I can take naps in between tapos ito ang gagawin kong alibi kapag they caught me sleeping..Drooling resistant huh, haha! Funny things, whoever thought about it..
Love the power nap excuse and meditating on the mission statement - at may paradigm pang nalalaman! At least 5 in the least signify that the sleepyhead is keeping the management's interests at heart. May utang na loob pa sila. Good, solid list. Ang mga lawyers talaga oo. :)
I like no.4! hehehe! Magandang alibi yan!
wow Dee! nice new layout! u've got yourself a new domain add too ;) a new year, a fresh start for Dee and a good one too ;) wld luv to see more of Dee's pics!
Funny, especially #1. When I feel drowsy at work, I just rest my chin between my knuckles and take a nap. That way, who ever sees me, thinks I'm on deep thought. : )
Hi Dee, Bisayang dako jud. Hain ka gikan nga bisaya?
I slept at work like twice but I wasn't caught. There were too many of us doing that but we never tell on each other. I used to spend late nights at bars even on weekday nights in Manila with my officemates. The following day, we faced our PC's with our eyes closed.
Anyway, thanks for the comment you left on my site. I'm from Davao....Bisayang dako.
I closed that post for comments since one reader commented negatively again but not as worse as that woman reader calling me conceited.
Well it 's nice to meet you Dee. Asa ka sa Davao? Nagpuyo ko sa Skyline dugay then move to Ecoland.
hi! i got your site from Jan. i particularly liked the number 1 and 10 excuses when caught sleeping at work. Haven't tried them yet.... hehehe. thanks!
I guess for me it's #1--madaling makalusot!pero di ko lang alam kung makakalusot ako!!
@Payatot: Oo, tama ka. Dapat before we use this excuse, siguraduhin munang may problema nga. Kundi lagot. Halata na nang-iimbento lang tayo. Salamat din. :)
@Mom Of Four: Oo nga, they're really funny. These would come in handy talaga.:)
@Jan: I like #5 too. It's a witty comeback. He passed the ball to the other court and made the latter defensive. Good technique! :)
@Anney: Yes, maganda talaga. Pero as Payatot said, depende rin daw kung may problema :).
@Sarah: Hi Sarah!:) Thanks a lot and thanks for the visit. Would love to see more of you too.
@BlogusVox: Hi! Oh, that's a really good technique. And I believe, effective too. O di ba, akala nila we were thinking but all along pala we were just sleeping. :) Okey ah! I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!
@Shoshana: Hi Shoshana! :) Taga Davao ko. Bisayang dako sad. Ikaw, taga asa ka dapit? Ay, ganahan dyud ko ba pag makakita ko sa Internet ug bisaya :).
@Bingkee: Oh, taga Lanang ko. Daghan ko friends na taga Skyline and Ecoland. Small world! It's nice to know you too. :)
@Lemuel: Hi! :) Yeah, #10's kinda original and #1 is a classic! Really funny. Same here, I also haven't tried them. Oh, thanks so much for the visit. Have a nice day! :)
@Clarissa: Hi! Yeah, #1 really comes in handy. Oo nga, hindi rin ako sure if effective ba :).
funny, dee! i like #1 though i don't know if i can pull that off. :) but glad i don't have this problem anymore since i don't go to work. although when i was still working, i did get caught sleeping but during that time i was 3 months preggy, and my boss just couldn't do anything about it... he just had to wait til i woke up before he could talk to me.. hahaha! :D
duh? "i did get caught sleeping".. haha! i meant "i was caught sleeping"... my mind was flying off... :)
@7thstranger: Hahaha. Oh, you've got a really good reason there because pregnant women are really always sleepy :). Take care, 7thstranger! :)
