The Road Not Taken

Photo credit: joiseyshowaa

I came to know from my blogging buddy Joji that February 2nd is the Fourth Annual Bloggers Silent Poetry Reading Day. You can post your favorite poetry (created by you or by others). I know this is late, but still. I'd like to share one of my favorite poems - The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. By the way, the beautiful image above, as I was graciously informed by the photographer and owner of it, is actually a path on Bruce Springsteen's property.

The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Very apt image. Just perfect for this poem...Millions of blogs out there, and thousands still being created every day, and one wonders how can he be heard above the noise. And here comes Frost urging us to keep the road less traveled. Maybe we should. I just hope I'd not get lost. :)

@Jan: Oh, you'd always be heard, alright. Judging from your performance, you have had quite a lot of sensible things to say that people can't help but listen to. And, I'm sure there will be a lot more of good writing from you. Plus, you say it quite beautifully and eloquently. What more could the blogosphere ask for. We just need to keep on educating ourselves with this blogging world and I'm sure too that we won't get lost.

Hi Dee! Nice to know you're also in the same dialect zone where I am, ",) And I am glad I made you laughed with those crazy names. It feels good to have somehow brought you joy and fun with that post. ASPO is now in his early 30s, his nickname is Popot.

Happy to find out too that you are participating in the Bloggers Silent Poetry Reading Day.
Better late, than very late, di ba?

Great poem, it's a little deep but I kind of got the message. To my understanding, this poem is based on our real life. We are always given a choice of which direction shall we take. But to be able to find out where the road leads us, is to take it and see for ourselves. Great thing is, if that road is not where we want to go, we can always go back and head to the right direction. It might not be the right message but oh well, lalim kasi ng mga english, di kayang abutin ng aking pag iisip, hahaha..

Asianmommy: Hi! Yes, it's really very beautiful. I could look at it for hours and never get tired. :)

Jojigirl:: Oh, yes, better late than super late, haha. That's nice to know about Aspo because I kinda felt sorry for him. He must have been the butt of jokes at one point or another. But I'm sure he's all right now. Have fun, Joji! :)

Mom Of Four: Hi Liz :). You got the meaning right! Ganoon din pagka intindi ko. Oo nga e, malalim. Nalilito din nga ako sa mga ganyan. Take care! :)

Shoshana: Hi :). Yes, it's really beautiful. So nice to keep on looking at.
