That's our (my family and I) uneaten dinner a few months back. Well, almost uneaten, actually, because we ate every last morsel of it even if we had to ram them down our throat and risk indigestion. Okay, that's probably not a nice way to describe how we had to painstakingly eat every thing on our plates and come up with a clean one. And it was really our fault for taking in more than what we could handle. Still, we needed to finish them off. I mean, they're food, with lots of effort placed just to end up as tasty as they were, and we really couldn't afford to be wasteful, not with hungry people in the world. Plus, the sign on the wall says that we need to eat every last bit on our plate lest we want to end up paying a fine twice the amount of our bill. I don't know if they really meant to enforce that, but we really didn't want to know.
I just feel that buffet dining is not a win-win situation. Win for the diner owners maybe, but not really for the patrons. I mean, how many of you could really eat food commensurate to the amount you pay for in buffet dining. Like you pay this exorbitant amount, but could you really consume that much worth of food in one sitting. I can't, even if I try really hard. And no matter how many the dishes were there, I really cannot eat everything because my tummy hasn't gone big overnight; it's still the same size now as it was way back when I stopped growing, so it can only take in so much.
Sure, they say that you can eat all you can. And the catch lies with the "you can" phrase. A slender girl with a small tummy can eat only 1/4 of the value of what most buffet dining charges. And even the biggest of men, I think, could not consume that much worth of food.
Not to mention that if we choose to eat a la carte, we would only have to pay for a third of what we would in a buffet one and still be so full. They say you actually pay for the variety. But do you really need to pay so much for a variety you can hardly even take in?
So, that's why buffet dining doesn't really work for me.
How about you, do you think buffet dining is all worth it?

hi! i enjoy buffet dining. my wife and i once won a free buffet dinner from a japanese restaurant located in one of the de luxe hotels in metro manila and i really enjoyed eating different varieties of japanese cooking. i also enjoy all you can eat dinner at a famous chinese restaurant in quezon city, its a hot pot resto. i do agree though that all you can eat restaurants can only be appreciated by people who have big appetites
i agree. i'm not fond of buffet dining too. takaw tikim kasi dun eh. hehe. pero i like the japanese buffet in edsa shangrila and in sofitel manila. :)
ey, finally nagawa ko na tags mo. hehe. :)
I always eat too much at buffets. But I do enjoy them for special occasions. It's fun to try all different kinds of things, even if I only get to taste a tiny bite.
Our family love buffet style here in Japan kasi malalakas din kaming kumain pero minsan lang.^_^Kaya lang meron ding disadvantages at paswertehan lang din sa buffet style restaurant na pupuntahan nyo like those of Yakiniku buffets here--not all are using good meat offered to them(kaya nga reasonable ang price di ba?) unlike sa talagang Yakiniku restaurant kahit na mahal ang price, masarap naman ang meat na offer nila.Kahit na mahal ang babayaran,we still prefer not a buffet dining lalo na sa Yakiniku.
Thanks nga pala sa comment mo--tumawa ako sa Mama ko for her to read my post kaya lang di ko makayanang umiyak sa phone kaya binababa ko na lang.sorry po,masyado akong madrama!
Have a nice day!^_^
have a nice day!
"But do you really need to pay so much for a variety you can hardly even take in?"
What we need now is be practical sa buhay. Especially yung pagkakain sa labas, but there are restaurants na really worth it, kaya sulit.
Nadidismaya lang kami ng misis ko if we tried sa mga restaurant dito sa Saudi and ended up na panget ang lasa, lasang arabo! hehehe
Hubby and I do a buffet at least once a month. Now with my girlfriends, we have this day out that we do buffet every first Saturday of the month. But we only like the dinner which we eat crab legs non stop. Buffet can be expensive, specially if my mom eats there. she cannot eat a lot. So what I do, I do take out buffet and get charged the same for eating there. I can pack my buffet box as if no air can get in.
It is not worth it if you eat in and cannot get what's your money's worth. You're right, no matter what, your stomach cannot get stretched enough to accommodate all those food. You will get indigestion and you get home and run to the bathroom. So, where did your money go? yes, down the toilet. At least that's what happens to me all the time.
Kami paminsan minsan nag bu buffet. Lagi namin sinasama yung malalakas kumain. hehehe!
Hi Dee! I think buffet dining is a good idea if you go with a bunch of hungry teenage boys. But for the girls and ladies who talk more than they eat, buffet dining is far too expensive.
Hello Dee, just visiting and I have a tag for you, I hope you like it...
Have a nice day....Keep on smiling...
