I was going over the news today and most of the reports are quite depressing. A lot of people too seems to be affected by these dispiriting times that one marvels about how it could sometimes push them over the edge. Not really a good thing, I tell you.
So, yeah, life sometimes sucks. No news there. It can sometimes be sad too. And still, nothing to be surprised about.
And while I'm trying my best not to ponder on that, all that melancholy is beginning to rub on me. Then, I remembered something my sister shared with me, an e-mail pass along, and it lessened my beginning-to-turn-somber mood somehow. So I thought that it'd be nice to share them with you too. They're little guidelines to help us get through this confusing tangle called life.
I hope these will be as uplifting for you as it is for me.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
- Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants, and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
- Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
- Make time to pray.
- Play more games.
- Read more books than you did in 2008.
- Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
- Sleep for 7 hours.
- Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.
- Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
- Do not have negative thoughts of things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment;
- Don't over do. Keep your limits.
- Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
- Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
- Dream more while you are awake.
- Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
- Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
- Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
- Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
- No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
- Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
- Smile and laugh more.
- You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
- Call your family often.
- Each day give something good to others.
- Forgive everyone for everything.
- Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6;
- Try to make at least three people smile each day.
- What other people think of you is none of your business.
- Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
- Do the right thing.
- Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
- GOD heals everything.
- However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
- No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
- The best is yet to come.
- When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
- Your Innermost is always happy. So, be happy.
I have a list of my favorites there and but they're too many to mention. Suffice it to say, these did me a lot of good.
So, what's your favorite in the list? What made the most impact on you?

here are my favorites:
Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about. - so true, but as normal people we love doing this
Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. - i don't know what to say except i am guilty to this, i always envy people who are more successful than me...:(
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others. hmmmm, another weakness, i still hate a few people, can't help it, they are really not nice to me and my family
What other people think of you is none of your business. - this is good....
Wow, i love this post! :)
Btw, no 2, eating dinner like a beggar - i guess that would make us fat, hehe.....
My favorite is no 37, the best is yet to come, that's been my affirmation up to now.
i like almost all of them but i like nos. 11, 12, 17, 19 and 38 the most. thanks for sharing this.
da best pa rin yung #1 at #2, basta tungkol sa kalusugan at pagkain ay pinaka na sa akin yun lalo na sa pag inom ng tubig.....maraming sakit ang maaalis ng maraming tubig sa wankata

I love these:
"Sleep for 7 hours." That's why I love Sundays - I vegetate for 7 hours.
"Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch."
Me: Ouch, tama ba naman yan. Nasagasaan tuloy ako.
"Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does." My personal motto.
"No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up." That for me is what defines a blogger or a writer.
"When you see me smiling, I have thought of someone else to blame." Okay, that's not on your list. I see this - or something like this - on Twitter. lol
Pssst: I'm writing my post but I can't resist to take a peek. hehehe. Okay, back to writing then. ",)
@Everlito (ever) Villacruz: Oh, yes, very important talaga. Sa kahit anong bagay, we really need God. Happy weekend! :D
@Lemuel: I like the first and the last one you mentioned too. The last one, because I have this habit of sometimes worrying about what people will think of me. I know I need to stop doing that. Thanks for sharing your favorites, Lemuel. :D
@Sera Melinda: Hi! I'm glad you like this post.
I like #37 too; full of promise. :D
@Rossel: Me too; I like them all. There are just ones who stand out, however, like the ones you choose. Have a nice weekend! :D
@Payatot: Ay, correct ka diyan. Sabi nga nila diba, health is wealth. :D
@BOGCESS: Hi. Thanks too! :D
@Jan: Wow, thanks for taking the time to visit even if you're in the middle of your writing. Really appreciate that.
I love the "Don't take yourself so seriously..." instruction too; it makes life more easier to live.
Thanks for sharing your personal favorites. :D
Thanks for sharing this!My fave on the list are # 19,22, 27,and 32
These quidelines closely relate to each other, so it's kinda hard for me to choose a favorite. Some I would be giving more preference owing to the fact that these are the things that lacked my thoughtful attention:1,3,7,10,12,14,18,21,25,39
@Anney: I like #22 too. It has a nice and simple way of explaining problems and somehow lessens my worries. You're welcome, Anney, and thanks too. :D
@Jojigirl: Yes, I thought too that they "closely relate to each other". Those are nice instructions you mentioned. Thanks, Joji. :D
These are beautiful reminders. Life is interesting. It has a lot of chinks that bother or cause pain, but everything adds up and life becomes richer. All I know is I can't go through it without friends.
Great list! Smile, laugh, & be happy!
hi dee! well i finally found a way for my comments to come out. had to use IE (dont like IE) coz its not working w/ my firefox. dont know why. i noticed my comments aren't coming out when i post to blogs who uses this blogger embedded comment form.

been awhile. i got very busy. thks for the other award and tags. will try to catch up on those. :)
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar -- di yata pwede ang dinner kung konti lang para sa asawa ko,palaging stress sa trabaho eh lol!
What other people think of you is none of your business-- as long as they' re not stepping on my feet.
You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree-- Yap, I agree!^_^
Have a nice day!Happy Earth Day!
Hi Dee,
I came here by way of Roy's blog at Reflections.
Those are all wonderful life lessons to live by. So good to be reminded of their uplifting messages, especially now as you've said.

i write more on social issues and you are right...almost always, the feeling is so depressing to hear news like "10 dead", "a student was raped", "hostages again" and so on and so forth.
all of these sucks, and sometimes i just get too tired and burdened by these sad news that i can't write anything anymore on my blog.
i like "7 hours of sleep" but for me, 8 hours or more. more sleep, more power to think and act appropriately = happier disposition..
and "the best is yet to come". one of my favorite song is, "all shall be well" from the jesuit communications.
