My Take On Confessions Of A Shopaholic

I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic last night. I read the book and the whole Shopaholic series, so naturally I was curious on how the big screen adaptation would fare (I watched it at home to save a few bucks).

I was disappointed with the movie. It was a big departure from the book. The message was there but some details were changed. And I love those details. Like how the setting of the book was supposed to be in London and the whole characters were supposed to be British with fabulous British accents. The movie, however, was set in New York with only one character having a British Accent! Ugh. Rebecca Bloomwood, the main character of the story, was supposed to be British. But they changed that. They changed scenes too. They changed a lot, I think.

The actor who played Rebecca Bloomwood didn't feel right for me, either. She was okay but Rebecca Bloomwood in the book was supposed to be a feisty, vivacious, funny character. I didn't see that qualities in the movie.

It was okay, overall. But (and this may sound like a cliche) it wasn't as good as reading the book.

I haven’t read the book but also don’t like the movie that much. Isla fisher is not so funny.

Hi Dee, I didn't know that this movie is based from a story book. But I think Rebecca here is funny and feisty, but not vivacious, so I maybe I should better read the book. I feel that there are some boring parts but I've learned something. A movie to pass the time.

I love the British accent. I love Hugh (is that his name?).
