Barcode Scanner: Big Help To Businesses

My husband would like to get a barcode scanner one of these days. Their family operates a small retail store and a barcode scanner will make ringing up their customers' purchases easier and faster. A barcode scanner will make the inventory more accurate and up to date too. More importantly, a barcode scanner will lessen input error, which is really good for the business. He's looking for one online and I think he found one he's set to buy. If you run a retail business too, I suggest getting a barcode scanner for your business. It helps a lot.

How We Spent Christmas Day

We spent Christmas day at home. Mostly at home. We didn't go out until the late afternoon and even then, it was just a short trip outside. I spent the day sleeping, cleaning and arranging things. My husband spent his time looking for Mopar parts in his computer. My son, on the other hand, spent it playing chess on my computer. It was a great Christmas, all in all. We thank God for that and for the many blessings we are receiving from him.

I hope you all had a great Christmas day too.

The Quest for a Modern Furniture

The weather has not been good lately. It's always raining and really very windy. I wanted to go out for some fun and relaxation. I wanted to visit the mall, eat out, do some window shopping, maybe watch a movie, or just plainly laze around and hang-out. But it kept on raining that we found it quite a big hassle to go out. Nobody wanted to brave the heavy rains and strong winds. So we ended up staying at home instead, and wishing all the while that we were having fun in the mall.

One other reason why I wanted to go to the mall was because I wanted look at some beds. Modern Furniture it would be for us this time. We need an extra bed for the guest room, especially now that the holidays are here and we are kind of expecting some guests to arrive. They will be joining us in celebrating the holidays. Anyway, but since the trip to the mall didn't push through, I ended up browsing for modern furniture online. Which was great since I found several beautiful ones online. We're looking for something sturdy and simple, yet elegant. I know we have to find one soon, though, since our guests will be arriving anytime soon.

I Want a Good Book

I'm looking for a good book now. I haven't read in a while which is quite uncharacteristic of me. I used to be a book worm, lugging books wherever I go. Lately though, I haven't seen the inside page of one. I think I need to get back to reading. I know it will help me relax. Books have a way of transporting me to another world. It's a good escape. I hope I can find a good book I could lose myself into. I miss those days when stories in books makes me feel so good.

Saving and Investng More: My New Year's Resolution

Do you still do new year's resolutions? I don't normally, but for this new year, I thought that it would be nice to have one. You know, a goal to set and just something that would challenge and motivate me. Something worth looking forward to. So I thought that for this new year, I would resolve to save and invest more. Tada! Wouldn't that be nice! I think it is. Saving and investing more will be good for me and my family, especially when the economy is so tough right now. Having savings and investments that we can count on will be good for our future.

I thought saving more than what we currently do will be good. Like if we currently save 20% of our income, making it a 25% will be much better. Investing in CDs would be a good option too. Which reminds me to look for the best cd rates. Also, I plan to cut on our spending. Like we can stop buying things that we really do not need. I usually shop at clearance aisles and use coupons for groceries and other stuff, and I'll continue doing that. Plus, I love to go to yard sales and that will help a lot. I plan to buy more store brands. They taste great just like name brands.

That's all I can think of for now. Maybe you've got other ideas in mind. Please let me know because I'd love to hear about them.

Some News

I just came to know that one of my godmother's sons was entered into a drug rehab. As a result, his plan of going to a university would have to be put on hold for a while until he gets better. My godmother is quite devastated, as can be expected. Just like any mother who only wants the best for her kid, what happened to her son came as quite a shock to her. I could hardly believe it myself. That kid has always seemed to be serious in his studies. I just pray that his recovery will be soon, so that everything will be all right. I know soon everything will just be all right.

About Dust

Do you know why there is dust? No, sorry I don't have an answer to that either. I'm really wondering myself. And getting frustrated in the process. You see, I spent a portion of the day cleaning and getting rid of dust. We live in a place where we hardly ever open the windows. Sure, we open the doors when we walk through them of course, but it hardly takes a minute when it stays open. So when you think about it logically, there's no reason for these dust to keep coming back. But come back they do. And a plenty of them to boot. Which is really weird. Not to mention that its so tiring to clean them off.

Oh well, just like anything, dust is a part of life, I guess. No escaping them. We just have to deal with it. *Sigh*

A Day Out With a Friend

I accompanied my friend to the mall the other day. She was going shopping for some things, while I wanted to do some groceries. It was the perfect chance for me to relax too and go out and bond with my friend. We really don't see each other often since she lives a couple of miles from our place. So it was a perfect time to catch up with stuff that's been going on in each other's life.

We went to look for metal beds first because she wanted a bed for her daughter. She said her daughter is old enough to have her own room and her own bed. She looked for nice but affordable ones. It took us three different stores before she finally was able to decide and make her pick. The bed-hunting kind of got us tired so we stopped by at a cafe and ate. I ordered pasta and cheesecake, she had burgers and cheesecake. Afterwards, we went to the linen section to look for bedding, pillows and the like. Along the way, we saw some clearance sale signs in the shoes department so we made a detour there. The last stop we had was the grocery section where we both did our groceries.

So that was our day out. It was fun and great that I'm looking forward to doing it again.

A New Car, A New Insurance

My friend is thinking of getting a new car. Her family already has a car but she wants something for herself, something that only she will be the one to use. You see, their family's car is kind of everyone's car. I mean, everyone in the family who can drive can use that car. So she wants something of her own, something personally hers. A car that she can call her very own. Something she can customize the way she wants to. And that's quite understandable given the fact that she's quite private about her things. Anyway, she wants a car that's small and light that will be easy to maneuver. She's currently looking for one that will be perfect for her. I made suggestions but she's still in the looking and learning stage. I reminded her that apart from looking for a car, she needs to look for an insurance provider too. Insurance is essential in having a car. It's very important. I led her to this insurance provider online that does all kinds of insurance including Motor Trade Insurance. I think it's important that aside from looking for a car now, she should also start taking a look at insurance so that when she finally finds that car she wants, she would already have an insurance provider on hand.

I'm happy for my friend. Getting a car is something she really wants and finally being able to do that is such a big accomplishment.

On the Holidays and Gaining Weight

I'm really excited about the coming holidays. Holidays are fun. There are lots of gatherings, parties and events. It's a great time to spend time with family, friends and other loved ones. A very good time to catch up on what's happening with everybody. There are lots of presents. It's a good time to thank everyone too and tell them how we love and appreciate them by giving them gifts. Holidays are just wonderful! And oh, don't forget the bountiful food we're sure bound to partake. That makes the holidays a thing to look forward to.

But speaking of food, that is what worries me somewhat. With all the food around, I bet I'll be gaining weight again. Being such a busy season, I don't think I'll be able to find time to exercise. So lots of eating and no exercise would translate to gaining weight, which is kind of frustrating. I might just consider tummy tuck to get in shape. It's faster that way, I think. I'll have a beautiful shape in no time. Oh, losing weight is really such a challenge for me. I'm never one of those girls who eats a lot but looks like who doesn't seem to gain weight at all. I guess I'll just have to try that tummy tuck after the holidays.

Getting a Free Credit Report Online

Do you know that you can now get a free credit report online? Yes, you can. No need to set up an appointment, dress up, drive, and travel many miles just to avail of a credit report. You can get a credit report absolutely free in the comfort of your own home.

So why do you need to get a credit report regularly? Getting a free credit report online allows you to determine whether what is stated there is absolutely the correct information. Your credit reports let you know about your chances of getting a loan. Many credit reports contain inaccurate information which can very well damage your chances of being approved for a loan. Remember that financial institutions or lenders look at your credit reports to know if you are capable of paying back your loan. When your credit report contains inaccuracies or mistakes, there's a big chance that it will destroy your ability to get a loan. When you regularly check your credit report by getting one annually, you lessen the chances of mistakes or inaccuracies.

Regularly reading your credit report also lets you check whether it doesn't contain mistakes which can ruin your credit rating. Remember that credit rating is very important.

In case you don't know it yet, you are actually entitled to get a free credit report from three major credit bureaus in the United States.

Take the time to get a free credit report online now. It's really very essential to properly managing your finances.

How to Increase the Value of Our Homes

Do you know that one of the ways in which we can increase the value or worth of our homes is to improve or renovate them? Yes, it is. That is why, my husband and I are planning to have a shower enclosure installed in our bathroom.

Improving our homes by renovating them is a great way to add value to our homes. When we have beautiful, comfortable and very functional homes, they become more valuable. And one way to accomplish that is to renovate our bathrooms.

My husband and I are actually always looking for ways in which we can improve our home and resultantly increase its value. We are choosing to renovate our bathroom this time because my husband and I just love to spend a lot of time in the bathroom. We love to take long showers after a stressful day. We find long showers relaxing and fun. We find the coolness of the bathroom very invigorating. We believe a shower enclosure will make taking a shower and staying in the bathroom more enjoyable and comfortable. It would prevent the bathroom floors from becoming wet and slippery too. Dry bathroom floors are safe and hygienic. Germs do love to stay on wet areas or surfaces. Dry bathroom floors translate to no germs. Also, a shower enclosure will add elegance and style to our bathroom.

By renovating our bathroom through adding a shower enclosure, we are actually accomplishing a lot of things. We are making it safe, beautiful and an enjoyable place to be in. And most importantly, we are adding value to our home.

Guide to Choosing Healthy Cereals

Cereals are supposed to be healthy. That's why, as moms, we give them to our kids for breakfast. But do you know that not all cereals are created equal? Most cereals are actually aren't as healthy as their manufacturers would lead us to believe. Most of them are packed with fat and unhealthy ingredients than we can ever imagine.

As moms who only want the best for our kids, we should consider carefully the nutritional value that our kids are getting from the cereals that we buy. I find this article about breakfast cereal scams really enlightening. It provides a guide to how we should properly choose the healthy cereals that are good for us and which cereals pass the healthy criteria. It gives us ideas on ways that we can provide healthy breakfast for our families.

Remember to choose your cereals carefully.

Custom Tail Lights: What My Husband Wants for Christmas

Do you know what my husband wants for Christmas? He wants custom tail lights!

My husband absolutely loves cars. He loves to customize them. It's a hobby of his, I guess. A couple of months ago, he had the car sound system changed. Before that, he had the wheels replaced with a larger set. Now he wants to have custom tail lights. He said custom tail lights would improve the look of his car and would help increase its value. Not only that, he said, it would also be a lot useful, helpful and will contribute to safety since it increases his car's visibility. I don't know yet if he would push through with that plan, but by the look of things, he just might be getting custom tail lights for Christmas. He's been spending some time now in front of his computer, browsing the Internet for great sites that provide custom tail lights. He asked me to help him look for a good website, and I found a user friendly site that provides custom tail lights. It offers a huge variety of car accessories and offers absolutely the best deals. My husband is checking it out.

I hope my husband finds the custom tail lights that he wants. Being such a good husband, he deserves to have them for sure.

Plan and Prepare Early For Your Holiday Parties

One secret to having great holiday parties is to prepare for them early on. Early planning and preparation ensures that every tiny detail would not be missed.

I'm starting to plan for our holiday gatherings. It will be attended mostly by family and friends. I'm beginning to choose menus, list ingredients, look for invitations, pick plates and glasses, shop for rogar wine openers, choose utensils, shop for rogar corkscrews and a champion wine opener, choose the wines we'll be having, and the like. I find that planning and preparing early is more enjoyable as I don't feel stressed by concerns or worries that I may not be able to do everything that I want or need to. Last minute preparation actually causes one to forget some things, which eventually leads to frustration. When that happens, chances are that you won't be able to enjoy the party that much.

So I suggest doing your planning and preparations for your holiday gatherings ahead of time. It's much more enjoyable and easier that way.

Very Berry Holiday Tree

Here's one lovely activity Driscoll's strawberries would like to share with us - Very Berry Holiday Tree.

Decorating and preparing our homes for the holidays is one thing that makes the holidays a fun and enjoying time. It's lovely to spend time with our spouses, kids and other family members decorating our homes for the holidays. This year, you can do so again with this beautiful Very Berry Holiday Tree. The Very Berry Holiday Tree is a good opportunity for you to do crafts with your children and make this lovely centerpiece. It's delicious and bright and costs much less than flowers. What's more, you need not use knives or glue gun. Created by cookbook author Tish Boyle, Very Berry Holiday Tree can be completed in just under an hour.

Here's the step by step guide to creating the fabulous Very Berry Holiday Tree:

"Driscoll’s Very Berry Holiday Tree

"Makes one table centerpiece

"Special equipment:
1 green styrofoam cone (measuring 4-5 inches in diameter at the base and 12 inches high)
1 box of toothpicks

"Supplies:
4 one pound containers of fresh Driscoll strawberries
1 bunch fresh mint
1 slice from a carambola fruit (also known as star fruit)*

"*Note: If you can’t find a carambola, you can use a 1-inch star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out a star shape from a mango slice instead.

"Directions:
1. Wash the strawberries and blot them dry with paper towels. Pull off the green stem from each strawberry. Reserve a perfect strawberry for the top of the ‘tree’.

2. Push a toothpick halfway into the side of the cone, about 1/2 inch from the bottom edge. Secure a strawberry to the toothpick, piercing it through the stem end. Secure another strawberry right next to the first one. Continue securing strawberries to the cone in circular rows up to its top, covering the cone completely. Secure the reserved strawberry to the top of the tree.

3. Remove some mint leaves from the bunch of mint and tuck them between the berries, placing them at about 3-inch intervals.

4. Secure the star-shaped carambola or mango slice to the top of the cone using a toothpick.

"About Tish Boyle

Getting a Rain Chain

Let's talk about rain chains. Do you know what a rain chain is? Rain chains are alternatives to a downspout unit in a traditional rain gutter system. Our neighbor had a copper rain chain installed at the back of their house a few weeks back. It looked nice and cool dangling there. It is also effective and a lot useful. We thought it would be a good idea to get a rain chain ourselves.

I checked rain chains being sold online. There's this one site that sells a huge variety of styles of rain chains. I particularly like their garden rain chains. This site has product pages that will provide one with knowledge and help about rain chains and finding one that's best for you. Plus, they offer low price protection and free shipping on all of their rain chains. A good deal, for sure.

I now like rain chains. I suggest you take the time to check them out too. Rain chains are really great alternatives to a gutter downspout.

About an Upcoming Trip

We've been planning to visit this mountain resort area that is just a thirty minute drive from our place. It's beautiful, cool and relaxing. It has lots of lovely flowers and plants, scenic wooded areas, nice and clean amenities, and fun activities that one can engage on. We plan to go fishing and horseback riding. Which reminds me to get an equestrian apparel to use for my horseback riding. I need to be properly dressed for horseback riding in order to ensure maximum enjoyment of that activity. And with an equestrian apparel, I can surely enjoy riding a horse and will surely have lots of fun. Oh, I can't wait to visit the place.

Tuesday Couch Potatoes: The River Wild

Hey, time for Tuesday Couch Potatoes once again! For today's theme, we will be featuring great outdoor adventures. My top pick is my all time favorite outdoor movie, The River Wild.

I'm a fan of Meryl Streep and I just love her in The River Wild. The story is about a family who went on a white water rafting trip to spend time together and also to repair the couple's relationship, but met bad guys along the way. I love the scenery, they're absolutely breathtaking. I love seeing the raging waters, even if they look a lot scary.

It's really a very good movie and is so full of exciting adventures, and if you haven't yet seen it, please take the time to do so because The River Wild is absolutely worth it.

For now, please head on to Tuesday Couch Potatoes for more great and fun outdoor adventures.

To Act as a Wedding Sponsor Or Not

I received wedding invitations last week. My husband's cousin is getting married. I wasn't only invited to attend, I was actually requested to become a sponsor. Now, I was surprised and a bit undecided on that. I mean, I believe I'm still quite not in that age group where people act as sponsors and I don't know if people my age are already allowed to stand as sponsors in a wedding. The bride was only in her early twenties and the groom was only a couple of years older than her. Our age gap is just less than ten years. So I told them that I would have to check first with some people I know if it's all right for me to act as their sponsor. It was actually okay for me, don't get me wrong. What I was concerned about was about traditions, culture observance and such. Anyway, I did ask my mom, who's a stickler for traditions, and a priest, who's a relative. They said it's all right, I was actually just going to act as a witness or something like that. And yes, I've heard of that already. It just makes perfect sense. So I did proceed to accept the invitation to become a sponsor. Still, I feel weird, though. I think it takes time to get used to the novel idea. The wedding is still a few days away. Still a lot of time to get used to being a sponsor. Hopefully by then, I've wrapped my mind around the idea.

One Quick Note

I have a very bad Internet connection these days and it's giving me headaches! So I want to say sorry to all my blog friends and visitors who never get tired of visiting my blog. Sorry if I haven't yet visited your respective blogs. We will be subscribing from another Internet provider soon and as soon as that happens I will be visiting you. Our current Internet connection makes it difficult for me to browse. It loads every web page so slow and at times, it just refuses to load at all. It's really frustrating! I'm doing my best not to start tearing my hair out! Whew! Anyway, thanks again for always visiting this site. I'll return the favor soon, promise!

A Real Christmas Tree

I can't believe it's already December and yet we still haven't got around to getting our own live christmas tree. Last year, we promised ourselves that this year we'd have a real christmas tree up and decorated as early as November. But it's December now and yet still no twinkling christmas tree in our home. I guess, we got so busy these past few weeks that we quite forgot.

Anyhow, I'm about to remedy that. It's still early December and I still have time to get a real christmas tree. I'm now checking Green Valley Christmas Trees, which sells real christmas trees. I'm buying online this time and doing my shopping in the comfort of my own home, which is so cool and convenient. That way, I won't have to spend on gas, lug and lift a heavy christmas tree to my car, or get my car scratched in the process.

Green Valley Christmas Trees is one great site to shop for real christmas trees as they're dedicated to bringing fresh and beautiful christmas trees to our homes. Their trees are of high-quality and fresh. They harvest and ship their live christmas trees on the same day so we are guaranteed absolute freshness. And they put it in a moisture-resistant carton so we know our christmas tree is protected during shipment.

I'm excited to get our live christmas tree. I can't wait to see how beautiful it is and start enjoying its fragrant and fresh smell.

Admiring Mailboxes

One of the things we love to do, when we've got nothing specific planned to do, that is, is go walk around our neighborhood and look at the different beautiful houses and their yards.

We did that again a few days back. We walked around several blocks and went sight-seeing. It's actually very soothing and relaxing, I tell you. We live in a quiet neighborhood with neat and tidy little houses that have mailboxes with character. It's fun admiring them. It's fun to look at nice address plaques and mailbox posts that are more than just mailbox posts. They give a certain character to the houses. Some residential mailboxes even complement the designs of the houses and add beauty and elegance to them. We had a good walk that day. It was a good exercise and a good way to unwind. It was a good way to learn about mailboxes too.

When we came back from that walk, I got fascinated with the mailboxes I saw, that I decided to check out Whitehall mailboxes online. They're absolutely great mailboxes. I found this site that offers high quality mailboxes, address plaques, home and garden decor and many more. And what's great about them is that most of their products are custom made. I just might get a mailbox or one of their products one of these days.

Buying a Memory

I spent Thanksgiving weekend playing The Sims 2 on my PC. Well, apart from spending time with family and friends, that is. And of course, don't forget the eating.

Mostly, I had fun playing the game. Almost fun, I'd say. What prevented it from being the most fun time ever was actually the fact that the speed and performance of my PC was so slow. It literally crawled. I need to buy memory soon. With an upgrade in memory, there would be a quicker response time on my The Sims 2 game. Also, it would make downloading music faster. I would put buying a new memory at the top of my list, that's for sure.

The Salads You Should Avoid

Salads - they're supposed to be good for you. But do you know that not all salads are created equal? Yes, surprise of surprises, they aren't! Some salads are more laden with fat and calories than what you think. Take a look at this article about the top ten worst restaurant salads there are.

At the top of the list is Chevy's Fresh Mex Tostada Salad with Chicken, Carnitas or Steak which packs a whooping 1,550-1,720 calories/ 37-47 grams fat/ 2,480-3,310 mg sodium. It's really unhealthy. Others that made it to the list include Romano's Macaroni Grill Chicken Florentine Salad, Quiznos Chicken Caesar Flatbread Salad and many more. These salads seem to be innocent-looking but actually, they pack more than 1,000 calories each.

Some restaurants do not provide nutrition information about their food, so in order to know if their salad is healthy or not, you can take a look at their ingredients. That way, you'd know if you're making a wise decision to tackle that salad.

Remember salads are supposed to be healthy, but when eating out, check the salad you like if they really are.

Getting a Raised Air Bed for the Holidays

We're thinking of getting a raised air bed this coming Holidays. It's sort of a Christmas present for us. My sister and her family has a raised air bed and we were able to see and try how it works. We found it to be quite comfortable and really versatile. We're planning to put our own  raised air bed in the guest room. And since it's very versatile, we thought about how it would be so convenient to bring along on our camping trips or out-of-town forays. It's waterproof, which helps a lot in making sure it stays dry. And it's got its own portable duffle bag which makes it easy for us, and for anyone, to just lug it around. Or, when my son goes to college, which is actually not going to take place yet in a couple more years but planning about it now though woudn't hurt, he can bring it along with him too. He need not hire moving vans or hauling trucks to do that, though, since he can just put it in the back of his vehicle. So overall, I think it would be a good buy or a good investment.

I heard buying raised air beds can sometimes get complicated so I'm quite thankful there's this site that compares various raised air beds and where you can find a number of links to different places that sells raised air beds. It's good to get all the information that I need before I finally choose the raised air bed that's right for us.
